hike descriptions
   peace valley history/nature

Walk back into history within Peace Valley, remotely sequestered behind the hilly ramparts on the north side of the Buttes. State Parks has authorized us to provide limited public access as they evaluate the proper balance between education, recreation, and preserving the natural features of this future State Park. With State Parks personnel, we will reveal how wildlife and indigenous plants have co-evolved in symbiotic parity, and how introduced exotic species have altered the landscape. We will locate sites of the native culture that existed in harmony with their surroundings for centuries and examine the remains of a pioneer settlement that is over 100 years old. Bring food and water.

MMF has made the decision to not offer any Peace Valley hikes until the access issues between the landowners and State Parks are resolved.
